Love Song: Bounding Mother-Baby Hearts through Heartbeat Sonification

For humans, Mother-Infant bonding is the most important social relationship in their earliest development stages. This social relationship is so crucial that mammals have evolved to develop behaviors that promote this relationship, such as crying whenever they are separated from their mother. Some studies suggest that in early stages sensory exposure to the mother’s sounds helps shape the development of the newborn’s brain. In this project, we aim to characterize the physiological response of the baby to the exposure to the sonification of the mother’s heartbeat.
