Before coming to CAPS, Lamar worked with adolescents in therapeutic boarding school/camp systems, as well as crisis stabilization environments. Lamar also served as Madrona Recovery’s first clinical director. At Madrona Recovery, Lamar helped develop and manage Oregon’s first dual-diagnosis residential program for adolescents with mental health, trauma and substance use challenges. He also provided frontline staffing as a clinical therapist for Piedmont Macon Medical Hospital’s partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.Ìý
In addition to using more traditional therapeutic approaches such as CBT and brief solution focused therapies, Lamar has experience with applying new wave modalities such as ACT, DBT and Mindfulness-base Stress Reduction. He is dedicated to reducing pain and suffering in the world by fostering a culture of compassion, kindness and inclusivity in his clinical practice.Ìý
