Welcome CU Students!Ìý
All CU students are welcome to participate in the Literacy Practicum. This is a one-credit Linguistics course that you can register for on your own. Just add LING 1900-001 through the Buff Portal. Once you register, you'll be added to our Canvas course.Ìý
On the Canvas home page, you can see the Literacy Practicum team. Feel free to reach out to any of us with questions!
From our Canvas home page, click the tab that says Community Partners. Take a moment to read about our partners and the options available to work with individuals in our community. Choices include assisting in a bilingual elementary school classroom, supporting teachers in English language classes for adults, tutoring international students, being a reading buddy to an elementary school student, or tutoring adult refugee-background adults online!Ìý
Once you decide what you'd like to do, complete the "Placement Preferences" survey linked on that page to rank your choices. After you complete the survey, one of our student liaisons will reach out to you to finalize your practicum placement. They'll go over the schedule, location of partner sites, information about trainings (if applicable) and expectations.Ìý
This is such a wonderful, mutually beneficial opportunity for CU students and our community partners. We can't wait to get to know you, and are excited for you to have this experience! If you have additional questions, please email the Program Director, Rai Farrelly at rai.farrelly@colorado.edu. Ìý Ìý
Welcome Community Partners!
The Literacy Practicum is always welcome to adding additional community partners. If you know of an organization located in Boulder that might be interested in forming a partnership with Ling 1900, please contact the Program Director, Rai Farrelly at rai.farrelly@colorado.eduÌý
