Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)

Purpose

The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ18 has a strong interest in protecting faculty, students, staff, and visitors from harm to themselves or others., In support of that interest, CU Boulder has adopted a Campus Violence Policy and has developed threat assessment protocols, one focused on students and the other focused on employes including visitors and non-affiliated individuals. Through collaboration, information gathering, assessment, and intervention, we seek proactive approaches to situations that may pose a threat to safety or well-being.

The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) engages in proactive and collaborative approaches to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with employees, affiliates, and visitors exhibiting concerning behaviors. By partnering with members of the CU community, the team strives to promote individual well-being and success while prioritizing CU community safety. CU is committed to providing a safe work environment for faculty staff students, and visitors – one that is free of violent behaviors, threats and harm. CU prohibits violent behavior and threats of harm affecting the workplace and such behaviors violate both law and University policy.Ìý
