Barbara Lynn Bowler Memorial Scholarship

The Barbara Lynn Bowler Memorial Scholarship is a $2000 award that is given to graduate students and undergraduate SLHS majors who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the SLHS department or to the field of speech, language, and hearing sciences. To be eligible, a student must be an SLHS major with junior or senior standing and have a GPA of 3.5 or above.    

Application Timeline: Eligible students will recieve information (via email) on how to apply. 

Application Deadline: Varies (typically mid spring semester)  – Please note that All parts of the application (completed application, topical essay, statements/recommendations) must be received by this deadline.

Submit Application Materials to: SLHSscholarships@Colorado.edu

Notification of Awards: All applicants will be notified of their award status by the Department within six weeks of application deadline. 

To apply, submit the following materials: 

  • A 500-word personal statement in which you introduce yourself and describe your contributions to the SLHS department or to the field of speech, language, and hearing sciences.  (Your statement should be double spaced and in 12 point font) 
  • A resume with education and relevant work experience 
  • ​An unofficial CU transcript
