Field Courses

Field courses are designed to provide students a hands on field research experience. Class sizes are smallÌýand each course emphasizes informal interaction with the instructors and fellow students. Course credit is readily transferable to other institutions and meets the application requirement for CU's Environmental Studies program.

2025ÌýSummer Offerings

Before being able to register for a 2025 MRS Field Course you need to pay a $300USD non-refundable course deposit here:

AFTER you have paid the course deposit (which will be deducted from the total course cost) you will receive a Permission Number via email from MRS Station Manager Dr. Mike Haffey that you will use to register for the course.

Degree students (i.e., CU Boulder students) may register for classes in the Buff portal with the permission number provided.

Non-degree students need to fill out a . A Welcome email with their Student ID# will be sent to students within 2 business days. Students will then follow the instructions in the Welcome email to activate an IdentiKey password, set up duo authentication, and access the Buff portal to register for classes.

Classes will show in the registration portal February 20th and enrollment starts March 10th.Ìý

Class sizes are limited to 15 people.ÌýTuition for summer courses includes rustic lodging (shared 2 person cabins) and all meals at the MRS dining hall.
